As Chairperson, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Commission on the Status of Women (KPCSW), I strongly condemn the horrific acid attack on a female doctor in Balochistan Such acts of violence against women are a grave violation of human dignity, fundamental rights, and the rule of law. The perpetrators must be brought to justice without delay, and the survivor must be provided with all necessary medical, legal, and psychosocial support.
This tragic incident is a painful reminder that stronger legal safeguards and effective implementation mechanisms are essential to protect women and girls from acid violence and burn crimes.
In this regard, I am pleased to share that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Acid and Burn Crimes Bill has undergone comprehensive review and finalization by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Commission on the Status of Women. The draft legislation is now ready for consideration by the Provincial Cabinet and, following approval, will be tabled before the Provincial Assembly.
KPCSW remains committed to advocating for stronger protections, survivor-centered justice, and a future where no woman has to live in fear of violence.
