Contemporary? Not necessarily. The #KeystoneFlag draws symbolically from PA’s coat of arms (dating back over 200yrs), and tricolor flags are hardly a new invention. When it comes to flags, design is a good value to have!
My daughter asked me to print out a picture of the Utah flag and some nice Utah pictures for a class project. When she saw the printout she said hey, that looks totally different than the flag in my book.
Turns out Utah just changed their flag and it took official effect only this March!
She took another look at it and said oh! A beehive, because it's the Beehive State! 🤩
I was just walking in Lancaster and spotted this on someone’s porch. I have no idea who lives here. Very surreal moment. #KeystoneFlag
ALT A flag commonly known as the Keystone Flag (a blue, yellow, and green tricolor flag with the middle section reshaped into a keystone) hanging vertically from the awning of a residential porch.
I’d feel stronger about how our state flag is folded if we had a better flag. If we got a @KeystoneFlag I would prefer it be folded so the keystone symbol is on top.
Ya right now I unironically think the license plate flag is the best design. I’m indifferent towards the blue green with the yellow keystone. Don’t love it, but don’t hate it.
Flags should not follow corporate logo guidelines. Reducing a flag to a small list of basic colors and angular shapes destroys identity, especially when other states are moving in that direction. Identity with a flag is produced by uniqueness and longstanding use.
Our coat of arms is gorgeous! But it's meant for seals and engravings, not limp fabric. The #KeystoneFlag is meant to take the best parts of our historic coat of arms and translate them gracefully to all the ways fabric may find itself.
The coat of arms is beautiful wherever it is engraved/embroidered/painted in a way it can be seen! It almost feels like disrespect to put it on limp fabric that hides it away and makes it look like just a horse's ass in the air, tied up by its tail.
Finally got around to seeing this last night - good chat!
I’m pretty conservative (utah liberal) and it’s super fun to see such a diverse group chat about stuff they’re passionate about.
Still have hope for America
