Today’s session under the Ashoka Road Thought Collective and the Decolonising Project of
@spmrfoundation, titled Reclaiming India’s civilisational self-understanding through evidence-based archaeology, was truly enriching and insightful.
We were privileged to host Dr. Pratisththa Mukherjee, Assistant Professor at Rishihood University, archaeologist and heritage scholar, who delivered a compelling discourse on archaeology as a discipline that extends beyond excavation into the realms of civilisation, evidence, and interpretation. She shared valuable insights on how historical narratives are constructed, revisited, and understood in light of evolving evidence.
Drawing connections between archaeology, geology, and contemporary contexts, the session highlighted how civilisational understanding is not merely academic but deeply relevant in shaping present perspectives.
The session witnessed active participation and meaningful engagement, making it a truly thought-provoking dialogue that encouraged a more nuanced and evidence-based understanding of India’s past and its continuing relevance today.
