Thank you to State Representative
@DanUgaste, State Representative
@RepSanalitro, State Representative
@NicoleLaHa, and State Representative
@JeffKeicher for speaking out about the growing property tax problem in Illinois and standing up for local municipalities that are being forced to raise costs because of regulations handed down from Springfield.
Communities like the
@VillageofElburn work hard to provide essential services while keeping taxes as low as possible for residents. One major way to help stop property taxes from continuing to rise is to stop
@GovPritzker’s push to lower the Local Government Distributive Fund (LGDF). These funds help local municipalities pay for public safety, infrastructure, road maintenance, and other essential services without having to rely even more on local property taxes.
When Springfield cuts funding to local governments, the burden doesn’t disappear, it gets pushed onto local taxpayers. Illinois families deserve relief, and our communities deserve support, not more property tax hikes, unfunded mandates, and reduced state funding.

We're fighting for property tax relief in Illinois. House Republicans have proposed numerous measures to tackle this most pressing issue for working families. Our proposals include:
☑️ HB 9 (Ugaste) - Provides property tax relief to homeowners
☑️ HB 5611 and HB 5612 (Weaver) - Provides property tax relief by reinvesting funds from paid bonds
☑️ HB 2543 (Sosnowski) - Forces taxing bodies to ask voters for approval
☑️ HB 1024 (Cabello) - Mandates sunsets for tax referenda
☑️ HB 5550 (Fritts) - Increases notice for tax increases
Illinois homeowners deserve relief along with a more transparent and predictable property tax system.
