Letting people stay unemployed creates scarring. Work skills decline, social skills decline, etc. Recession have no value and affection for recessions is just mindless "no pain no gain" stupidity. Or which I think is likely you prefer unemployment over risking inflation.
Replying to @sp6runderrated
that could be accomplished. Shore up the banking system and let time heal the scarring from the bad loans and insolvency fears. COVID stimulus worked because it was fundamentally different...it gave people and businesses money to keep going...totally different than 2009

I really don’t know if this guy is dumb and economic phds are given to anyone but the real gdp per capita difference between Argentina and the USA was less than 1% per year for 60 yrs and yet theirs a huge difference in standard of living even though in 1960 arg and USA were clos
Worth looking at the record. Real GDP per capita grew by an annual average 4.1% from 1948-73 in Western Europe. In Eastern Europe it was 3.8%. So not much difference. The real problems with the communist economies began in the 1970s.

There’s one simple fix here allow people to invest ss into etf
Yes @mcuban you’re right that 60% of US adults own stock directly or indirectly but what you omit to mention is that the richest 1% of Americans own nearly 50% of the stock market while the bottom half of Americans own just 1%.

It’s not on billionaire wealth, by the way; it’s on any ETF available to the general public. An alternative approach is to equalize rates of return through financial literacy and institutions that democratize access to the stock market. That is a solution that promotes growth instead of creating fiscal distortions.
It’s a problem that the return on billionaire wealth is about 7.5%. Any wealth tax rate below that and accumulation continues.

For literally one year and then what?! Also the Americans who are millionaires are predominantly teachers and government employees

Put another way, a $1T is enough to give every state government $20 billion. That's just shy of the median state budget. That money could double the services our states are able to provide to their residents.

That’s clearly a mistake made by Kaegi and will be corrected.
If you don’t support a property tax cap, how high are you willing to let property taxes go? A taxpayer in Riverdale is paying a $17,000 property tax bill on a home she bought for $207k just 2 years ago. When is it too much?

This also conveniently forgets that the cta fell apart during the Biden administration and Pete Buttigieg who I would personally want as the next president
Sir, I'm aware that the current USDOT chief Sean Duffy is a former "The Real World Boston" star (2nd from left), but the CTA is a transit system, not a reality TV show. x.com/Chicago9811/status/206…

Cta didn’t have the same level of problems under Rahm. Were they fully funded then? Or were they fully funded with covid dollars but they were allowed to fall apart. Fare dollars are down yes but not 1.5b a year down…
"Yeah, Johnson and Pritzker were solely to blame for the CTA's massive drop in revenue and ridership! ...Years of chronic underfunding of transit and the COVID what?!" x.com/BrianCostin/status/206… @ChicagoMPO @GovPritzker @_atalliance @RTA_Chicago @Metroplanners @humantransit

Can’t wait for the ctu to address their antisemitism problem among rank and file teachers
You voted against @AldMattMartin’s ordinance to ban cops from actively participating in extremist and anti-government groups like the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers, just weeks ago. No wonder you think all hate crimes being important are a “schtick”. news.wttw.com/2026/05/20/cit…

Gotta be honest, the Karmelo Anthony trial seems like something our media gatekeepers could have gatekept a little. "Guy who was promptly arrested after stabbing someone in front of lots of witnesses convicted after jury deliberates for three hours." Riveting stuff!

Carrying a gun across state lines is not a crime
Kyle Rittenhouse crossed state lines with a rifle, killed two people, and went home free.

As long as he’s legally allowed to own a gun in both states carrying it across is not a felony

You guys came out stronger against this than the victim blaming Maria did for sheridans death. This whole fucking city is so toxic and doesn’t care about murders
Look, we all make mistakes. People should be allowed to move on. But it seems Maria may have lied about her identity by toggling between "Ramirez," "Yzabel," & "Moctezuma" while fighting against lifesaving infra and victim-blaming Riley O'Neil. If so that's not OK. (10/X)
