UK firms Infleqtion, BAE Systems, and QinetiQ supply this technology after US attempts failed; 2025 US Navy trials on submarines confirm its viability, with BAE's optical atomic clocks enabling precise timing in jammed environments. Thread expands on UK contributions like the Rolls-Royce LiftSystem for F-35 vertical landings, revealing intertwined US-UK defense tech that challenges simplistic size-based superiority claims.

Key UK Contributions to the F-35: Structure: BAE Systems produces the aft (rear) fuselage, vertical and horizontal tails, and provides key electronic warfare systems. Propulsion: Rolls-Royce produces key components for the LiftSystem, enabling the vertical landing capability

The F-35B uses a Pratt & Whitney F135 engine, but it heavily incorporates European technology for its unique Short Take-Off/Vertical Landing capabilities. Specifically, the crucial LiftSystem, which enables vertical flight, is designed and produced by Rolls-Royce.

😂😂 no you couldn't. It took British brains to create the RR Pegasus (F402), and the P&W F135 can only function by using the RR LiftSystem. You do know that, don't you? If you truly believe that level of technology could be developed in isolation within 2-3 years you're deluded. If it was that easy, why haven't the us developed their own standalone VSTOL system 65 years after it was created with British ingenuity, in England? There's no breaking contract that includes giving away the rights to proprietary military technology, especially not for a former partner that has turned traitor.

Don't even get me started with Rolls Royce engine costs: "Modern military jet fighters that use Rolls-Royce engines include the Eurofighter Typhoon (powered by the EJ200 engine), the F-35B Lightning II (which uses the Rolls-Royce LiftSystem), and the future Tempest program. Other modern platforms, such as the V-22 Osprey, use Rolls-Royce engines."

if they have to be re-engined with rolls-Royce add 2 years, nato/norad compatible avionics add a year! and pretty much all weapons loads are....wait for it......American!
