Microsoft is disabling Office 2019 for Mac next month
Heads up to all my Mac friends: If you’re still using Microsoft Office 2019, things are about to get tricky starting July 13th. Microsoft isn't renewing a key certificate, which means Office 2019 apps will essentially stop working for daily tasks. From that date, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneNote will enter "reduced functionality mode."
Basically, you’ll be stuck in read-only mode—able to open files but unable to edit, save, or create anything new. This is pretty frustrating, especially since Microsoft originally promised that the apps would continue to function after support ended in 2023, only to quietly change that stance recently. Unfortunately, since Office 2019 is no longer supported, there’s no patch coming to fix this. You’ll have to bite the bullet and upgrade to Office 2024 or get a Microsoft 365 subscription if you need full access. It's a good reminder to check which versions of software you're running!
