On Tuesday, public safety leaders from across Massachusetts gathered at the historic Mechanics Hall in Worcester to honor the courage, compassion, and commitment of those serving in our state and county corrections systems.
The 28th Annual Excellence in Corrections Awards recognized extraordinary acts by correctional professionals. From life-saving interventions to acts of extraordinary bravery, the stories of the 27 honorees reflect the highest standards of public service.
The ceremony opened with remarks from Public Safety and Security Secretary Terrence Reidy, who joined the @MACorrections, the @MASheriffs, and colleagues from across the Commonwealth to express deep gratitude for the awardees' dedication to safety, rehabilitation, and service.

The ADA who prosecuted the Lopilato brothers after they were wrongly arrested by Michael Lank, who assaulted and arrested them while he was drunk, reached out to me last year. The prosecutor said he felt like a scumbag for believing Lank, who clearly lied to the jury that acquitted the brothers in an hour. Lank was promoted after that. He was inside 34 Fairview Road on the morning John O'Keefe's body was found and admitted today that he made no effort to search the house.
