You’ve got an F-47 leading the pack, flanked by F-35s (including a B variant), an F-18, and an F-15 — all ripping low and fast through the Welsh valleys. High-speed passes, tight coordination, and those unmistakable vapor clouds pouring off the jets as they pull hard through the turns. Then comes the money shot: a perfect crossover where the lead jet slices right through the formation like it’s choreographed chaos. No vintage warbirds. No pretend dogfight. Just raw, modern military aviation flexing in one of the most insane low-level flying spots on Earth. The crowd (and everyone watching) is straight-up speechless. This wasn’t on the program — this was the real deal. Whoever put this together… absolute madmen in the best way possible. Could 100ft turbines "blind" our skies in Wales? The UK government is pushing to bypass planning for 30m (100ft) wind turbines. While we’re all for green energy in Wales, the "Map of Conflict" is getting crowded especially in North and Mid-Wales. The "Red Zones" in our backyard. RAF Valley & Anglesey: With a 15km "safeguarding zone," even "small" turbines can create radar clutter that makes training flights dangerous. The Mach Loop (Mid-Wales): We have some of the most famous low-flying zones in the world. Turbines aren't just a radar glitch here; they’re a physical hazard for pilots. Sennybridge & Aberporth: Critical defense radar that keeps the UK secure could be "masked" by the constant rotation of new blades. Sweden just blocked huge wind projects because they would slash missile defense response times from 2 minutes to just 60 seconds. Administrative Costs, A "Saving" with a Hidden Price. Reduced Planning Fees: Currently, a planning application for a small turbine costs roughly £585 to £600 in Wales. By removing this requirement, the Senedd and local councils lose this fee income. However, they also save on the thousands of pounds in staff hours usually spent processing these applications. "Radar Tax" The real cost is in mitigation. If turbines "blind" the RAF or civilian radar, the Senedd or UK Government may have to fund "Radar Mitigation Schemes." Upgrading a single regional radar system to handle turbine "clutter" can cost between £2 million and £5 million. With the Welsh Government’s "Future Wales 2040" plan already having to shrink wind priority areas due to MOD concerns, is this new "fast-track" policy a step too far? We need lower bills and cleaner air, but not at the cost of national security or pilot safety. What do you think?
