China Lacks Core EDA Technology: Inability to Achieve SelfSufficiency from Engineering to Pharmaceuticals
【中国缺乏EDA核心技术:从工程到药物都无法自立】
EDA (Electronic Design Automation) is the technological “DNA” of engineering design, underpinning critical sectors such as railways, aircraft, space programs, nuclear engineering, and weapons development. China does not possess the capability to develop any truly indigenous EDA software, just as it lacks domestically produced automotive and aircraft engines and cannot manufacture highend machinetool equipment. If the United States and Europe were to completely cut off EDA supplies—and if Microsoft and Oracle withdrew their products—China’s airplanes would be unable to fly, trains would be unable to run, and satellites would fall from orbit. More seriously, 90 % of China’s pharmaceuticals consist of expired patents and lowtechnology legacy drugs, even lagging behind India. Consequently, the future scenario for China includes: No medicines available for consumption; Computers that cannot be powered on; Complete paralysis of transportation systems
