The Stream and Resolv loss events happened for different reasons, but the second-order impact on lending markets is the same: NAV-based oracles were used where the team issuing the token were responsible for updating the oracle. The oracle wasn't updated after the loss event, which allowed people to buy depegged tokens, add them as collateral in a lending market with an oracle that valued the collateral at $1, and borrow against it. Bad debt was created and lenders took the hit. Fixed-rate oracles, which are updated by a centralized entity, work fine when the protocol that issues the collateral is operating without issue. When a protocol is hacked or a vault is impaired due to a loss in an underlying yield source (e.g., losses on a CEX like Stream), it's a different story. Fixed-rate oracles protect borrowers from undue volatility that can cause liquidations when the protocol issuing collateral is operating as expected. In a worst-case scenario, a fixed-rate oracle increases risk for lenders, as it prevents liquidations from happening. Any lending market should make it standard practice to implement a backup oracle solution that is triggered if a fixed-rate oracle doesn't update on a pre-defined schedule OR when there's a significant divergence in price between the primary and backup oracle. @SteakhouseFi's MetaOracle and solutions like it are a great way to reduce this risk. There are tradeoffs between using fixed-rate and market-rate oracles. We've seen two large bad debt events caused by NAV-based oracles in the last six months. I understand everyone wants to place blame on curators and/or protocols, but let's learn from these mistakes and improve the security of lending markets to ensure these loss events don't keep happening.

@monarchlend now parses MetaOracle configs. You can see: - Primary vs backup oracle - The price path each one uses - What assumptions are baked in

MetaOracle picks both with a dual-oracle setup Primary: uses a simplified price path path with peg assumptions Backup: full market path for accurate market pricing If deviation exceeds threshold, it switches, and we get bad debt protection without market manipulation risks.

A promising hybrid approach is MetaOracle from @SteakhouseFi, which switches between a stable primary feed and a market-based backup when price deviations persist. More info in their latest publication:

GM GAMERS An AMA was held on the @Thousandsxyz Discord with @paulbettner and @KatyjustCANnot. Paul answered many important questions about the future of Wildcard and Thousands. Also, today is Early Access Day for Wildcard, which makes this a very important day. We can now say that the $WC and $THOU listings are just around the corner. You can read the AMA summary here: Game Development and Launch Priorities ▫️ Top priority is a stable Early Access launch, followed by releasing high-quality seasonal content to boost retention, reactivation, and revenue. ▫️ The game exceeds initial visions, with an exceptional team pushing it further; Early Access is the first market step, leading to 1.0 release and multi-platform expansion. ▫️ Early Access is expected to last up to one year, incorporating community feedback, bug fixes, balance tweaks, and additions like new factions, champions, summons, and arenas. ▫️ Content at launch includes 6 unique champions, 3 factions, 3 venues, 2 map layouts, and over 220 unique cards. ▫️ Players can expect a complete play loop with matchmaking, team-based battles, progression via challenges, pack rewards, and a battle pass. The free-to-play model remains post-EA, with exclusive rewards for early adopters. ▫️ Servers have been tested up to 100k concurrent users (CCU), anticipating organic growth potentially accelerated by upcoming features. The demo during Steam Next Fest achieved strong performance for a new multiplayer IP. ▫️ High satisfaction with Steam Next Fest: thousands of players participated, the game broke into the top 10 upcoming games, and is highly polished for EA standards. Monetization and In-Game Economy ▫️ Tailored for F2P PC players (distinct from mobile), including a card-pack system with transparent odds (inspired by TCGs like Magic: The Gathering and Hearthstone), a battle pass (like Helldivers), a rotating cosmetics store, and upcoming spectator-driven features. ▫️ Two currencies: Fame (soft) and Fortune (hard), following modern PC F2P best practices. ▫️ Expecting healthy ARPU and LTV from seasonal Wildcard releases building on this foundation. ▫️ The $WC token is deliberately excluded from the game to broaden appeal, with better integrations planned for the Wildcard and Thousands ecosystem. Marketing and Community Building ▫️ Intentional focus on small to mid-tier streamers for authentic, engaged growth; avoids paid big-name activations until funnels are optimized for better ROI and retention. ▫️ Benefits include allowing games to take root with mid-size audiences before attracting larger streamers, with larger UA budgets deployed post-optimization. ▫️ Continuously sourcing new marketing groups, streamer agencies, and UA partners; limited international (e.g., CIS) integrations as a Western studio, but planning global growth during EA for broader hit potential. ▫️ No emphasis on promoting airdrops as core marketing; instead, Web3 is used for user acquisition and conversion challenges, not in-game assets. ▫️ Not increasing marketing to Web3 audiences; designed for smaller crypto enthusiasts to support broader Web2 scaling. ▫️ Twitter is not effective for gaming UA; focus remains on YouTube, TikTok, and Twitch. No plans for Web3 Twitter bots, prioritizing actual impact over vanity metrics. ▫️ Ongoing engagement with investors like Paradigm, gaming projects, and influencers, while focusing primarily on core gamers via Steam EA. $WC Token Updates ▫️ In final development stages: contract upgrades, Thousands integration, final audits, and compliance. No precise launch date yet, but potentially before the end of November, with more info in the coming weeks. ▫️ Trading availability not confirmed yet; team is navigating regulatory concerns as a high-profile Western company with Paradigm investment. ▫️ No plans to increase acquisition costs in future meta predictions or livestreams, and no guidance on future value. ▫️ Community distributions have no vesting or automatic locks; all unlock at the same time, with opportunities to use tokens in protocol features soon. ▫️ Feedback is influencing airdrop model changes: adjustments will even out past distributions, reserve portions for events/listings (e.g., Buildpad, YGG), and introduce new ideas aligned with community input. ▫️ Remaining undistributed tokens are being tracked closely; upcoming announcements will clarify timing and impact. ▫️ Utility extends beyond WFL: upcoming protocol features will leverage Web3 strengths for user acquisition rather than traditional in-game integration, aiming to align Web2 scale with Web3 resources and set new standards. ▫️ No new fundraising announcements at this time. Thousands Network and $THOU Token ▫️ A separate, independent entity from Wildcard with its own leadership. Details on the network, foundation, and $THOU are forthcoming; no information yet on ICO, airdrops, allocations, or utility. ▫️ Built for broad digital products, with Wildcard/$WC as the debut project. Features like Thousands.tv, WFL, and Metaoracle serve as reference implementations. ▫️ Streamers are engaged where they already are (e.g., Twitch). Initial tests refined UA features, and rewards are planned for organic Next Fest streamers post-audit/deployment. ▫️ WFL launch is tied to $WC details; more info soon, including the token sink (in final dev/audit) and upcoming KYC implementation. ▫️ Risks if $THOU launches first are undisclosed, as timing is independent. Focus remains on Wildcard’s game performance to ensure strong metrics and avoid pitfalls like Pirate Nation. ▫️ Other projects may onboard for token distributions via Thousands. ▫️ Metaoracle engagement and revenue are increasing, with recent forecasts reaching an ATH over $200k credits, reflecting community contributions to Wildcard’s EA success. Other Notes ▫️ Wildpass: A significant retroactive airdrop has been allocated. The next stage is not ready to reveal, but holders are appreciated and not forgotten. ▫️ Mobile potential: The game plays well on touch screens without changes, representing a major opportunity in Eastern markets, with separate matchmaking pools. ▫️ Community feedback remains crucial to direction, influencing token distributions, airdrops, and overall plans; the team is grateful for ongoing input. ▫️ No plans to onboard other investors publicly yet; announcements will be handled separately by Wildcard and Thousands.

the game was always supposed to be full web2. however, they're doing a lot of things on the web3 side as well. they separated their web3 activities under Thousands (x.com/Thousandsxyz) got a $wc token that they airdrop to those who spend credits in their weekly Exhibitions, make forecasts on their MetaOracle. It's supposed to be listed in the coming months. They also recently announced $THOU for the Thousands platform. You can read about these developments in their whitepaper wildcard-alliance.gitbook.io… (Message copypasted fom @shasan2101 )

This is part of the complexity of oracle selection. There is actually no "perfect" solution. Having market rate is bad, having hardcoded is bad. NAV can work sometimes, but will almost always be late to the party. This is why we are pushing for our MetaOracle which are a nice, trustless way of merging both: hardcoded/NAV to dampen short term deviation and market price is the depeg persist. They are used in most PT-Ethena markets on @MorphoLabs You can read more here: forum.morpho.org/t/steakhous… I think it is the best answer in a trustless setup, but happy to hear otherwise. Having open and honest discussion in the public is the DeFi way.

Few understand the power of outsourced distributed computing, architectures originating with $QUBIC #QUBIC and generalized for the Xi Protocol $XI Metaoracle is a force not to be taken lightly, as evidenced by what just happened with $XMR. The end of classical consensus security.

Anon and the rest of Crypto X can't fully comprehend this and they are under the belief that only one network can be the Oracle FALSE The fact Metagraphs can do all of this w/o needing a 3rd party is not only cost savings for F500 but game changing $DAG = MetaOracle
I just ran through cost analysis with customer looking at a similar thing... They were looking at using Polygon: Problem: • $0.50 per transaction = $600K monthly • Still too expensive for micro-transactions • Real-time processing economically challenging • Scaling costs increase with volume Solution Proosed Constellation TEMTRACE = HGTP System: $0 per transaction = unlimited capability • Real-time processing without economic penalty • Micro-transaction tracking fully viable • Perfect audit granularity at zero cost The combination of notarization blockchain HGTP creates capabilities that are literally impossible to replicate on traditional systems or fee-based blockchains. Endless Savings! Look on their faces: Priceless
