“Why aren’t there more content creators in crypto?? There’s so much money to be made!”
If someone can promote crypto well, they’re capable of selling literally anything else on the planet instead. Think about it
Making normal people care about decentralized permissionless smart contracts is basically the most difficult marketing feat in the universe. If you can do this, you can promote ANYTHING
And it is SO much easier to sell someone a pen than it is to convince them your monkeycoin is going to ten trillion dollars
Plus, people who buy the pen will mostly be happy with it. They bought the pen bc they like you as a person. They WANT to like it, so most will
But crypto is the reverse. It’s an investment, and most people lose money trying to invest on their own
So you’ve taken this group of followers you collected, who all WANT to like you, and you made them broke. And now they want to kill you
For the type of genuinely interesting/likable person being discussed here, this may be the single most egregiously retarded misuse of their social capital possible
And finally: 95% of the country thinks crypto is a huge scam, and will hate you inherently for being associated with it
Approximately 0% of the country finds pens to be scams or lashes out at pen salesmen
“Then why do some people still do it?”
A lot of people say “because they’re scammers,” but that doesn’t make sense to me
Barring a handful of exceptions, I bet most crypto scammers look back and think “fuck, I would’ve made way more money if I just sold gas station dick pills or something”
Two explanations DO make sense:
1) Bored or unemployed people who never consider any of this stuff just start making videos about their hobbies and Boom. You’re accidentally a cryptocurrency influencer
2) Some people are just ruthlessly contrarian. The thought of being hated by 98% of the planet excites and motivates them
