My Music Background and How the Process Actually Works Hello. I Figured it was time for a little music‑introduction side of me. Here’s my background in music: I’ve been involved in the music world for twenty six years now. I have been writing my own lyrics for two years. I wanted to start writing songs, and at first it was just something I did for myself. I shared my lyrics with family and decided to take the first steps toward possibly beginning my music career. I also have family vocal backgrounds and experience singing in chorus in high school. I understand how music is created because I have lived in it for decades, and nothing about this process is quick or simple. No real album is created in a month or even a year. That is not how this works. (Feel free on the next post to take a listen to my demos) Here’s the breakdown: First off , What a Demo Is? A demo is the very first step. It is the beginning of many stages in writing, producing, and creating an album. Demos do not always have to be the singer or songwriter’s voice. The vocals are AI because that is what a demo is for. A demo is not a finished song. A demo is not an album. A demo is simply a tool that lets me hear what I wrote. It lets me test the instruments I chose. It lets me hear how the lyrics I wrote sit inside a melody. It lets me understand what direction I want the song to go before I ever bring it to professionals. Skipping that step would make no sense. No one writes a song and immediately hands it off without hearing it first. What are Stages of a Demo? You write the lyrics.
You choose instruments.
You place the lyrics inside a melody.
You listen back.
You adjust.
You refine.
You decide what direction you want the song to take. Then the professionals listen.
Producers, vocal coaches, musicians, and people trained in arrangement and structure hear the demo. They decide what works, what should be changed, what should be edited, and what should stay exactly as it is. They give feedback based on experience, training, and industry standards. Only after that do you move forward. What The Stages of Making an Album? You write.
You test.
You demo.
You refine.
You collaborate.
You record.
You produce.
You finalize.
Only then does an album exist. Right now I have over thirty seven songs. That means I can take all thirty seven or whichever ones I choose and present them to the appropriate people. They listen. They give feedback. We agree or disagree. We change things or we do not. Then we record. Then we lay down the real track. That is how the process works. At this stage the only thing that is original is the lyrics. The lyrics are mine. The writing is mine. The ideas are mine. They are one hundred percent original. When I am good and ready to put my voice on it, and when the professionals I work with feel it is the right time, then I will. It will happen when it is supposed to happen, not when people who do not understand the process think it should. Miscellaneous info: To write songs and create an album, you need to know the steps. You need to understand how demos work. You need to understand the difference between writing, testing, refining, and recording. If someone has never written a song, never created a demo, never gone through the stages of building an album, there is no way for them to accurately judge the process. There is no way for them to speak on it. And there is no reason for it to be discussed as if they do. This is stage two of many. Nothing has been presented as complete. I was simply excited to share a demo of the lyrics I wrote and the instruments I chose to hear them with. That is all it ever was. And anyone who actually understands music will recognize that immediately. Thanks. 😊 -Candace Ann 🎶 (Songwriter & Singer) #songwriter #originallyrics#26yearsinmusic #chihards #musicknowledge #musicproces#forclarity #ChicagoPD #stage2ofmany#stayingclassy #OneChicago #artistmindset #albuminprogress
