Sempozyum fizik, kimya, biyoloji, malzeme bilimi, tıp ve mühendislik gibi alanlardan gelen araştırmacıları, daha gelişmiş yapılar geliştirmek için bilgi ve beceri kazanmak üzere bir araya getirdi. SAMFE’nin ana teması esnek yapılar için gelişmiş fonksiyonel malzemeler, aydınlatma ve görüntüleme, sağlık hizmetleri için biyoelektronik, enformatik bilimi ve teknolojisi, enerji hasadı, giyilebilir elektronik, yumuşak robotik ve kuantumla geliştirilmiş esnek cihazlar olmak üzere yedi odak temayı içeren genel olarak elektronik olarak belirlenmişti.
