Tahun 2026 merupakan tahun kedua Indonesia sebagai anggota BRICS, yang juga bertepatan dengan perayaan 20 tahun sejak dibentuknya BRICS pada tahun 2006. Dalam pertemuan, Menlu Sugiono berbicara pada dua sesi, yaitu sesi pertama “Closed Session: Global and Regional Issues”, dan sesi kedua “Open Session: BRICS@20: Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation, and Sustainability". Sugiono menggarisbawahi bahwa BRICS harus menjadi bagian dari solusi, bukan polarisasi. Indonesia juga terus menyampaikan dukungan penuh terhadap Palestina dan Solusi Dua Negara.
