Stable reference electrodes for organic solvents—finally. We report in ACS Electrochemistry development of an Ag/AgCl electrode that’s inexpensive (~$5), fast to make (~20 min), and stable for 21 days in DMF, ACN, aniline & DMA—no water/O₂ exclusion needed. Work lead by our amazing graduate students @AlexReidellUSC, Christopher LeBarron, and our amazing undergraduate students including Meredith Stewart and Abby Koczaja. Check it out in #ACSElectrochemistry #Electrochemistry #OrgSyn pubs.acs.org/doi/full/10.102…

they should make an orgsyn for recipes where a third party actually has to see if it tastes good

Something about this is so Academia. Like only some orgsyn nerd would put Silicon on drugs

A new lysergamide with a fascinating structure has hit the market- 1S-LSD, bearing a never before seen trimethylsilane group. I’ve never seen a drug containing this group, though it is just cleaved as a prodrug, it has no bearing on the experience

Ever wanted 3 grams of (–)-humulene oxide II? Neither did we. But OrgSyn came knocking and we couldn’t say no. orgsyn.org/Content/pdfs/proc… Thanks for checking, @sarah_reisman and Emily Chen! #tbt Original gram-scale protocol in our JACS 2014 16788 paper.

OrgSynにはお世話になったけど、再現性は抜群。何度も再現性実験をしてくれているから、当然と言えば当然かもしれないけど、細かい注意点まで書かれていてありがたい。再現出来なければ自分のミスを疑うレベル
dx.doi.org/10.1021/acs.jmedc… Organic Synthesesの100周年 みんな一度はお世話になったことがあるはず もう100年もやってるんだな というかだからWebサイトがいつまでの古臭いのか(笑) ここに書いてある通り再現性が高いので助かっております

We also have this which AFAICT no other field has orgsyn.org/ "All procedures and characterization data in OrgSyn are peer-reviewed and checked for reproducibility in the laboratory of a member of the Board of Editors" so the bar is high

I often used to substitute mmol for mol following OrgSyn preps. Usually worked well. Ditto following old patents that transferred 1 tonne of material from kettle A to kettle B containing reactant, I would be using fractions of a gram. Fun times

There are only three trustworthy journals when it comes to syntheses: InorgSynth, OrgSyn, and JChemEduc. And the latter can have some odd moments.
