Stable reference electrodes for organic solvents—finally. We report in ACS Electrochemistry development of an Ag/AgCl electrode that’s inexpensive (~$5), fast to make (~20 min), and stable for 21 days in DMF, ACN, aniline & DMA—no water/O₂ exclusion needed. I often used to substitute mmol for mol following OrgSyn preps. Usually worked well. Ditto following old patents that transferred 1 tonne of material from kettle A to kettle B containing reactant, I would be using fractions of a gram. Fun times
