My superintendent is right. Our students need and deserve every single second of valuable learning and engagement with their school community. State tests this year are another layer of trauma in a traumatic year. Cancel them. #overtestedOH

Common sense tells us all that this needs to happen. With the chaotic nature of the past year and the trauma that all of us have endured, the last thing we need kids & teachers worrying about is state tests with results that will prove nothing. Wellness needs to be our priority.

We have a student who recently had surgery and missed school on her birthday, so we called her last week and the whole class wished her a happy birthday.
Can’t measure that on a standardized test, but I can guarantee they’ll all remember it for a long, long time.

Finally, as both the DeMaria & Ohio Excels supposed solutions to the Graduation Requirement cling to a system over reliant upon these assessments, which this study suggests they do not even understand (I’m looking at you too, Fordham), both need to be discarded. #OvertestedOH
