🇵🇱 New Study from IFA Poland Board Member: Early AKI Detection in EVAR Patients 🧬 🔬 A new publication by Dr. Konrad Zuzda, board member of the IFA Poland Chapter, highlights the use of proenkephalin A 119–159 (penKid) as an early biomarker for acute kidney injury (AKI) in patients undergoing endovascular aortic repair (EVAR). 🧪 Key Findings: 📈 80% sensitivity for AKI detection on post-op day 1 🏥 AKI patients had longer hospital stays (12 vs 9 days) 📉 Lower 6-month survival in the AKI group 🩺 Point-of-care (POC) testing outperformed standard lab methods 💡 Why it matters: AKI is often diagnosed too late.
