Here’s the real cost of confidence being a coin flip. It’s not the bad games. It’s what the bad games do to your self-trust. Every time you walk into a big moment and your best doesn’t show up, a little piece of trust gets eaten. So next week you’re not just playing the opponent. You’re playing the memory of every game where you went looking for it and it wasn’t there. That’s the spiral, and no amount of extra film fixes it, because it was never an effort problem. The college athletes and pro athletes I work with don’t feel more confident than you. They’ve just stopped renting confidence from their mood and started owning it through a system. Four pieces. Identity, decided in advance, not discovered in the moment. Evidence, a running record of every hard rep, every comeback, every mistake they recovered from, so they walk into big moments carrying receipts instead of hope. Routines, the same lock-in every time so the body knows what state to drop into. Self-talk, installed before the chaos, not improvised inside it. Start with evidence this week. Open a note on your phone. Title it Proof. One line every time you do something hard or come back from something that should’ve rattled you. Thirty days from now you’ll walk into a game with a folder instead of a feeling. That’s the difference between athletes who have good weeks and athletes who have good careers. Comment SYSTEM and I’ll send you the full build. #alphaadvantage #performancecoaching #collegeathletes #proathlete #d1athlete

Animation Voiceover Tip 🗣✨ One of my favorite techniques for animation acting is playing both parts of the scene — even when you’re only auditioning for one character. Why? Because great performances come from authentic reaction. When you take the time to speak the other character’s lines out loud, you create real timing, emotional connection, and genuine responsiveness instead of simply “reading” your lines in isolation. Suddenly, the scene becomes alive. You’re no longer performing at the words… you’re reacting to another person. That’s where so much truth, spontaneity, and emotional connection comes from in animation and voiceover work. The Give Great Voice philosophy has always been about communication rooted in intention, listening, and authentic connection — even in larger-than-life animated worlds. 🎭🎙️ Do you ever read both sides during auditions or scene work? I’d love to hear your process below. 👇 If you’d like to learn how to Give Great Voice with me, send me a DM. ✨ #GiveGreatVoice #TasiaValenza #AnimationVoiceOver #VoiceActing #VoiceOver #ActingCoach #AnimationActing #VoiceActor #PerformanceCoaching #AuditionTips

One of the core principles behind Give Great Voice is understanding that communication is never just about the words themselves. It’s about intention. In my TEDx Talk, I used one of my most iconic characters, Poison Ivy, as an example. 🌿 If Poison Ivy wants to seduce Batman and draw him close enough to kiss him with venom… she can’t simply say: “Hey Batman, come over here.” 😅 Because the sound has to match the intention. That’s where authentic communication begins: • Who am I? • Who am I speaking to? • What do I want? • Why do I want it? When actors understand those questions deeply, the voice changes naturally. The energy changes. The rhythm changes. The emotional impact changes. People don’t just hear words. They hear intention. That’s Give Great Voice. 🎙️ If you’d like to learn how to Give Great Voice with me, send me a DM. #GiveGreatVoice #TasiaValenza #VoiceActing #VoiceOver #ActingCoach #PoisonIvy #PerformanceCoaching #CommunicationSkills #ActorsLife #TEDx

In 2007, Harvard researchers studied 84 hotel room attendants and changed one thing: what they believed about their own work. They told one group that their daily cleaning, scrubbing, vacuuming, and lifting already met the Surgeon General's recommendations for an active lifestyle. The other group got no information. Neither group changed their actual behavior. Same work. Same hours. Four weeks later, the group that believed their work was exercise showed decreased weight, decreased blood pressure, decreased body fat, and decreased waist-to-hip ratio. The only thing that changed was the belief. Alia Crum and Ellen Langer published the study in Psychological Science. Crum followed it up at Yale with an even stranger finding: when participants drank the exact same 380-calorie milkshake, their hunger hormones responded differently depending on whether they believed the shake was 620 calories or 140. Same milkshake. Different belief. Different physiological response. Beliefs aren't just thoughts you carry around in your head. They're instructions your body follows. If that's true for a milkshake, imagine what it means for the beliefs you carry about your own potential, your worth, and what's possible for your life. 85% of the brain's core structures are organized by age three. That's from Dr. Bruce Perry, one of the leading researchers in developmental neurobiology. By the time a child starts kindergarten, most of the neural architecture they'll use to interpret the world is already in place. Not their knowledge. Not their vocabulary. Their wiring. The default patterns for how they respond to stress, connection, conflict, and opportunity. Here's where it gets heavy. The CDC-Kaiser Permanente Adverse Childhood Experiences Study surveyed over 17,000 people and found that childhood experiences don't just cause pain in the moment. They predict behavior decades later. People with four or more adverse childhood experiences were: 7x more likely to become an alcoholic 2x more likely to develop heart disease 12x more likely to attempt suicide Two-thirds of participants reported at least one adverse childhood experience. Most reported more than one. These aren't rare situations. Somehow, we've let them become the norm. And here's what matters for anyone in coaching, leadership, or human development: most people walking into your office, your team meeting, or your life are carrying scripts they didn't write and don't know they're following. The coach who can see those changes can change the entire conversation. Full breakdown in this week's blog post. ⚡ Speed means nothing if it doesn’t show up on game day. If your players sprint fast in testing but move slow in the game, there’s a gap in how you’re training speed. 🎓 The free ALTIS Built for Speed video series with Stu McMillan shows how to close that gap — connecting mechanics, decision-making, and context so athletes don’t just run faster, they play faster. 📺 3 short videos. Practical tools. Immediate impact on how you coach speed. 🔗 Access free: loom.ly/vbW8134 #Speed #BuiltForSpeed #ALTIS #PerformanceCoaching #SpeedWinsGames

amzn.to/49Sr2Uq 1️⃣ I had a client issue so common it deserves a post. The problem? He was going to start going to the gym next week. The behavior doesn’t matter: “I’ll start eating healthy after the holidays.” “I’ll start sleeping once I’m done with this product launch.” “I’ll start…I’ll start…” 2️⃣ There are two of you (and me): Present You and Future You. Future You is a paragon of health—a perfect angel. Present You is B.A.D.—but you don’t worry, because he’ll be replaced soon by Future You. 3️⃣ The problem, as the song goes, is that “someday never comes.” We all know it intuitively—that’s why Creedence Clearwater Revival wrote about it, not because they ran a neuroscience experiment. 4️⃣ But as a professional, I can’t build my framework on intuition or song lyrics. Kelly McGonigal’s The Willpower Instinct breaks down what’s actually happening neurologically. 5️⃣ Here’s the short version: • Your brain releases dopamine when you imagine the future • That hit feels good • So dreaming about the future becomes addictive • And since it’s easier than taking action, you do it more It’s a cheap high. 6️⃣ That’s why I tackle this in the Cognition Pillar of my SCREEN Framework— Spirituality | Cognition | Recovery | Environment | Exercise | Nutrition You can’t pick which pillars to keep and expect the building to stand. Ignore your mental biases, and your building—and your health—collapse. #MindsetMatters #MensPerformance #DisciplineOverMotivation #StrengthHasAHigherPurpose #BehaviorScience #LeadershipDevelopment #EliteMindset #SCREENFramework #PerformanceCoaching @kellymcgonigal
