🗳️ Syria’s post-Assad parliament is in motion, but not without controversy. A new presidential decree quietly formed the election committee on June 2. Yet, the public won’t vote: 1/3 of MPs will be appointed by the president, the rest by handpicked subcommittees. Critics question the promise of real change. 1/ Who are Saraya Ansar al-Sunna? The group that claimed responsibility for the St. Elias Church bombing in Damascus isn’t just another ISIS offshoot. Their rhetoric blends jihadist extremism with betrayal of the revolution narratives. 🧵 #Syria #AnsarAlSunna #Damascus #StEliasChurch #PostAssad #Terrorism #Jihadism #Telegram #ISIS #TransitionalJustice #AlSharaa #Revolution #Extremism
BREAKING 🚨 Saraya Ansar Al-Sunna has officially claimed responsibility for the suicide bombing at St. Elias Church, carried out on 22nd June by “Mohammad Zain al-Abidin, Abu Othman.” In its statement, the group denied the Syrian government’s interior ministry earlier claims of arresting the cell behind the attack. Despite not pledging allegiance to ISIS, the group endorsed its ideology, calling Christians a legitimate target due to their “provocative actions”, and vowed more inghimasi (suicidal infiltration) attacks. #Syria #Damascus #StEliasChurch #SuicideAttack #SarayaAnsarAlSunna #Terrorism #ISIS #ReligiousViolence #Christian #Extremism #Breaking

The recent wave of assassinations and targeted attacks against figures linked to the former Assad regime underscores a critical crossroads for Syria. The continued absence of justice and accountability is creating a dangerous vacuum, one that risks being filled by individual acts of retaliation that threaten community security and reopen wounds that never truly healed. A large segment of Syrian society still carries the burden of displacement, detention, torture, and loss, inflicted over years of systematic violence by the former regime and its networks. These individuals and families are not merely seeking vengeance, they are demanding recognition, justice, and dignity. This is not just a moral obligation; it is a fundamental requirement for genuine national stability. The current Syrian government must approach this transitional moment with care and clarity. It must adopt transparent policies and open communication that balance the security necessities of a fragile environment with the emotional and moral needs of a wounded population. Delaying justice or minimizing past crimes will only deepen mistrust and push the country toward renewed cycles of chaos. Only through a genuine and structured transitional justice process, rooted in truth, accountability, and institutional reform, can Syria move toward a future built on reconciliation, not repression. #TransitionalJustice #Syria #Accountability #PostAssad #CommunityStability

🔗 carep-paris.org/recherche/tr… #Syrie #violencepolitique #postAssad #alaouites #sciencespolitiques
