As we approach the growing season in the Upper Midwest 🇺🇸, I’m happy to share our latest
#WiscWeeds paper: "Evaluation of single vs. multiple site-of-action PRE herbicides for waterhemp and giant ragweed control in Wisconsin
#soybean.”
✅Main takeaway: Don’t rely on a single site of action (SOA). Preemergence herbicide (PRE) programs with 2–3 SOAs delivered better and more consistent early season weed control results. For mixed infestations of
#waterhemp (Amaranthus tuberculatus) and giant
#ragweed (Ambrosia trifida), consider PRE programs containing herbicides from Groups 2 14 5 and/or 15.
Also worth noting:
#Amaranthus species are becoming increasingly problematic across South America; our findings may help inform research and management strategies for colleagues across the region.
