ONE YEAR WITH MY FORD LIGHTNING FLASH!!! A year ago, I upgraded my Lightning Pro for a Flash! I absolutely loved my Pro with the vinyl seats / floor and “no frills” but got the opportunity to buy a Flash for $52k, 0% interest for 72mo. This upgraded me from an SR to LR pack, 9.6kW ProPower (Pro has 2.4kW), BlueCruise, faster charging, etc. In the last year I’ve driven this awesome truck ~16,000 miles, towing large trailers well over 4,000 of those miles! This truck tows like an absolute dream and typically has us driving 2 hours between 30-40 minute stops. Not the fastest towing rig in the world, but no maintenance, instant torque, and reliability are worth the trade offs to me. The software in this truck is acceptable but could be better. With the Lightning stoping production for good, what we have today is likely what this truck will live with forever. For a truck, it gets the job done and has some awesome features like zone lighting, ProPower when the truck is off, backup assist, etc that are absolutely phenomenal! This truck has taken us all over the East Coast and Midwest this last year and I can’t wait to see where it takes us next! From the top of Mount Washington to Northern MI, we’ve had a blast! Service from Ford for this truck has been absolutely phenomenal! I’ve had to have it worked on twice. Once for a recall and once to have a sensor fixed that I broke. Both times they came to my house, took the truck for the day, and brought it home with the job complete. And I’ve only ever had to wait a few days. So far, it’s been the best service experience I’ve ever had! Here’s to more years behind the wheel of a Lightning! 🍻

Stabilizing what it is supposed to do isn’t an added feature for me and it used to let me control ProPower, Zone Lightning and Route Plan …. 3 years ago. Back then we were wide eyed and optimistic talking about what it will do in 3 years with OTAs. We didn’t imagine the answer would be less. The improved charging speed and adding Tesla was HUGE but outside of that, the OTAs and app improvements for me have been a major let down and it’s primarily been bug fixing and making it pretty. So much low hanging fruit that it’s clear isn’t coming at this point so it’s a bit deflating for me.

I did a focus group with them on the app and told them it was pretty but a superficial shave and a hair cut. What I really wanted was to have control of my ProPower and Zone Lighting and to to be able to touch something on the screen and go directly to the setting or control not through a menu. I’m not sure I’ll get invited back 😬

I obviously love that they would go electric but as a taxpayer it’s hard to understand unless they got a massive discount why these wouldn’t be a Lightning which is far larger, less expensive to upfit and more work friendly with propower and you would pay far less.

I always respect that you’re a straight shooter I opened it and was like “ well … I guess it’s prettier “ Absolutely 💯 agree with @jaminwestby on the ProPower. We used to be able to see and control it as well as the zone Lightning. As much as I’ve hoped for things like a pet mode and more use of the onboard cameras etc I think we just have to accept this is all it’s going to ever be from a software and features perspective.

I bought my Lightning just a month before hurricane Helene destroyed the southeast. We took the Lightning into a nearby town that was hit harder than our town and cooked over 700 meals for people using a using ProPower on the small battery all day. This truck is such a blessing
