"Solving an emulsion presents challenges, with viscosity playing a crucial role, increasing the temperature of the biphasic system and diluting the phases can enhance coalescence and phase separation." #processchem #realtimechem

The best method would be to precharge the catalyst and dose the malonic acid into hot solvent. Also a good example of why high temperature is safest (at low temp, the intermediate will accumulate). #chemtwitter #processchem

Welp guys, I'm proud to announce I moved to San Francisco and started at Genentech today!! Secret is out!!! Time to get my @SafeChem79 on and dive into the world of process chem!!! I switched to the dark side! #processchem #chemtwitter

Just saw a Ti(OEt)4 work up in a nature paper. Quench with water leads to lots of solid TiO2. Better add THEED (alcohol form of EDTA) or aq potassium glycolate. This gives clear organic and water layers upon extraction. #chemtwitter #processchem

In the middle of helping with a manuscript that literally says "the med chem route was crap and this is how we fixed it for scale" It's my team's med chem route and I agree with that assessment

Our first exhibition is coming up! Catch us at the @SciUp OPR&D Conference in Clearwater, March 13-15. We'll be showcasing Telescope's ability to compress R&D timelines in the chemical and pharma industries. #OPRDNA23 #ProcessChem #EnablingTech
A previous attendee told us;-'OPR&D had the best line up of talks of all the events I attended in 2022. I recommend it for anyone interested in process dev in pharma.' We hope you can join is in Clearwater. Register for #OPRDNA23 @ bit.ly/OPRDNA23 #OrganicChemistry

Lab chemist: *proud that a procedure requires only 1.1 eq iPrMgCl* Process chemist: Please test large excess, then we don't need to quench the 200 L drum spearately. 🫠 #chemtwitter #processchem

If you are not able to reproduce a chemical transformation, it doesn’t mean that you are a bad chemist. It means that the procedure (or catalyst etc.) is not robust. To proof the robustness, we often ask colleagues to repeat it. #chemtwitter #processchem

So as the concept evolved, the idea seems to be to make it less and less like a classic machine, and instead replace by pure convenience (and reproducibility as our friends in #processchem would want). That goal has been achieved. But first, they coaxed us along.

Just read in oprd : POCl3 (276 kg) in MeCN added slowly to a cold (! 🚩) solution of bicarbonate for quench. We would never do it this way because cold temp slows down hydrolysis and leads to a runaway reaction. #processchem

Many roles: #ProcessChem (what I came for), #DiscoveryProcessChem (what, talk to biologists? I’m a phys org chemist), #EnablingTechnologies (passion unlocked), all at least 2x. 2 sites. Lots of outstanding science. Great colleagues – no tags since I’m sure I’ll forget someone.
