Today, my heart swelled with joy and gratitude as I watched my precious grandson dedicated to Jesus at our church - a beautiful moment that brought tears to my eyes, reminding me of the profound blessings of faith and family in our lives.
Yet, in the same breath, like many, I'm grappling with the horror of yet another senseless terror attack, this one in Australia. It's a stark reminder that hatred toward Christians and Jews is fueling violence in Western nations - nations like Australia, the U.S., and Canada, built on Judeo-Christian values that have long championed freedom, justice, and human dignity.
Here at home, our federal government is pushing forward with legislation that removes religious exemptions from hate speech laws, potentially criminalizing passages from the Bible - the very book our founding fathers drew upon to shape this great nation. This isn't progress; it's a dangerous erosion of our foundational principles, driven by a misguided empathy that prioritizes foreign ideologies over our own cultural heritage.
As a Christian, I strive not to judge others, that's God's domain. I do strive to use good judgement however, and though I fail at that at times, it is clear we are allowing our society to be undermined by policies that import people whose values are incompatible with our own. Nationwide, violent crimes in major urban centres, including assaults on women and children have surged under soft-on-crime approaches, open borders, and unchecked mass immigration. It's not hateful to acknowledge this; it's essential to protect our families and communities.
In these challenging times, let us find the courage to speak truth with compassion and conviction. Let us be bold enough to call out what we know in our hearts is not right - to defend the values that have made our nation strong, just, and free. Hundreds of thousands sacrificed everything for this legacy; may we honor them by preserving it for our children and grandchildren, with wisdom, unity, and unwavering resolve. 🇨🇦
