We can replace some animal proteins with plant-based proteins since it’s associated with improved blood markers and reduced risk of heart disease… always trying to be evidence based (Circulation, 2019). 🏪I’ll advocate for keeping it easy and following the HABIT24 strategy - and still get enough protein per day. 🍽️ Choose three of these per day for a total of 24 ounces for protein - you’ll pair these up 24 ounces of veg/fruit to bump protein higher: •Tempeh: 31g protein per cup (8 oz) •Edamame: 29g protein per cup (8oz) •Tofu (firm): 27g protein cup (8 oz) •Lentils: 21g protein per cup cooked (8 oz) •Chickpeas: 17 protein per cup (8 oz)
