Pygmalion effect. Not only modifies behavior, but also academic performance, job performance, physical achievement, etc. How many times have you heard somebody credit their success to the coach, spouse, teacher, boss, or friends "who believed in them"? People are afraid to let others down, so they strive harder, and doubt themselves less. This is a worthy space.

I discovered this as a kid myself and I've been applying it to every kid (including my own) since. It's also why I've spent half my life educating adults in not defining kids negatively, with a particular focus in not telling kids they're bad. It's a bit like the Pygmalion effect

Dahl was horrifically Antisemitic. One thing I really love about Jew-haters like him. Jews take on their works and turn them into masterpieces that are loved far greater interest than the original works. Examples: Gene Wilder pulling off the perfect Wonka. And even better yet, Lerner and Loewe taking Antisemite George Bernard Shaw's Pygmalion and turning it into the masterpiece My Fair Lady. That's how we remember the Antisemites.
Millions grew up reading Roald Dahl’s beloved children’s books. Far fewer know about the antisemitic views he expressed throughout his life and his hostility toward Israel. The Tony Award-winning play Giant, starring John Lithgow as Dahl, revisits the controversy surrounding the author’s remarks about Jews and Israel, raising questions that remain relevant today about where criticism of Israel ends and antisemitism begins.

They were the next big thing. Then they were nothing. Slowdive's farewell was a middle finger to those who built them up just to pull them down. Rutti opens up Pygmalion with 10 minutes of minimalism, waves of reverb washing over you as the band prepares for the dark sea ahead.

Do You Know? Your expectations can influence your performance. Psychologists call this the Pygmalion Effect. #DoYouKnow

Yes, exactly. He was the perfect representation of a contemptible modern man who adds no value and parasocially creates a pygmalion version of the women he’s around. He was pathetic and his fate became having to live with the results of his demented fantasies.
