In SLP grad school a professor told us that research is on avg 11 years behind clinicians. I will add - not all clinicians are innovative and pushing the work forward. The ones that are need researchers to study their methods and help get the word out.

There’s so much focus on the Littles (K–3), but when we see that the science of reading works, we have a moral obligation to go back and help the kids we failed. It’s not convenient and it can be scary, but it’s the right thing to do. Margaret Goldberg told me about a school where, after embracing science-based reading, teachers reached out to older students and started tutoring them after school. What a beautiful act of healing for student and teacher. We leave no one on the battlefield. @kjwineducation @reading_league @dyslexiaIDA @parentsunion @right2read edweek.org/teaching-learning…
