Today, on International Day of Education, we are reminded that education is not a privilege; it is a fundamental human right. In Nigeria, over 20 million children remain out of school, the highest number in the world. Many who are enrolled face overcrowded classrooms, underfunded schools, unsafe learning environments, and a shortage of qualified teachers. Girls, children with disabilities, and those in rural communities are disproportionately affected. Education is the foundation of justice, economic opportunity, and sustainable development. When we fail to invest in it, we fail a generation. Today, we call on governments at all levels to increase and protect education funding, prioritise inclusive and safe learning spaces, and ensure that no child is left behind.
