When Governor Sim Fubara took over as Governor of Rivers State, the building was abandoned by his predecessor. Being a man that knows the importance of health, he took it upon himself to finish and equip the Zonal Hospital. Today the Bori Zonal Hospital is functioning in full capacity. Under the leadership of Sir Sim Fubara, the former Honourable Commissioner for Health, Dr @Adaeze_Oreh successfully delivered this state-of-the-art health facility to the people of Rivers South East Senatorial district. This fully equipped hospital now serves over one million patients in the district, a significant increase from the three hundred thousand the old Zonal hospital catered to before the inception of this administration. The newly commissioned zonal hospital is a 105-bed secondary healthcare facility. It is equipped to provide high-quality secondary healthcare services, including advanced care for high-risk pregnancies, newborn complications, mental health issues, and other critical health concerns. Complete with emergency drills, skilled divers, simulations, and a beautiful boat regatta, this activation signalled hope for remote and riverine communities in Rivers State, for whom traversing the waters with emergency support promptly can transform survival rates. Last year, the Rivers State Government in collaboration with The @worldbankgroup IMPACT Programme commenced work on lecture halls, laboratories and practical demonstration rooms for the Rivers State College of Nursing Sciences. This project is part of the #Health4AllRivers pillar for strengthening #HumanResourcesforHealth and drew excitement from the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria, the regulatory body for the country's Nursing profession.
