We, members and leaders of the ADC, and other well-meaning Nigerians, lovers of democracy, are saying that our democracy must not be killed. We say NO to a one-party system and for that today we’re calling out Nigerians who believe in unity, peace, and security of our country to join us as we defend democracy in our land. A New Nigeria is POssible. -PO

ADC Raises Alarm Over INEC Landmines - Plot to Prevent Party From Fielding Candidates We are compelled to raise serious concerns about a developing situation that appears designed to prevent the African Democratic Congress (ADC) from fielding candidates in the upcoming elections. It is based on documentary evidence which we are now placing before the Nigerian public, including certified INEC records, attendance logs, monitoring reports, and excerpts from the Commission’s own sworn affidavit. Taken together, these documents establish a clear and consistent record of events. View the records here: bit.ly/NafiuGombeCase INEC received formal notice of the July 29, 2025 National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the ADC. It deployed officials to monitor that meeting. It documented the proceedings and received formal reports from its field officers. Following this, INEC updated its internal records and uploaded the names of the new leadership, including Senator David Mark as National Chairman and Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola as National Secretary. These are not claims. They are facts contained in INEC’s own records. In addition, the Commission’s sworn affidavit before the Federal High Court, in its response to Nafiu Bala Gombe on 12 September 2025, particularly in Clauses 14 to 19, affirms key legal principles: that the leadership transition had already been completed and recognized, that such internal party matters fall outside the scope of judicial interference, that completed acts cannot be reversed by injunction, and also recognizes the David Mark-led NWC. Yet, despite this clear documentary trail, INEC has now taken the position that it will no longer receive any correspondence from the ADC pending the determination of a matter before the Federal High Court. This is where the contradiction becomes dangerous. The Electoral Act imposes strict timelines on political parties, including the 21-day notice requirement and submission deadlines. INEC itself has fixed May 10 as the deadline for the submission of relevant documents. However, by refusing to receive communication from the ADC within this same period, the Commission is effectively preventing the Party from complying with the law. In simple terms, INEC is effectively threatening that unless the courts deliver judgment on the ADC leadership issue by May 10, it will prevent the ADC from producing candidates. This places the ADC in an impossible position and creates a clear pathway to artificial non-compliance, which can then be used to justify excluding the Party from fielding candidates. That is the landmine. INEC has claimed that its April 1 decision was taken to avoid rendering the proceedings before the Federal High Court nugatory. The reality is the opposite. By intervening in a matter already before the court and issuing a pronouncement with clear legal and operational consequences, the Commission has itself undermined the very process it claims to protect. What is even more concerning is that this position contradicts INEC’s own prior conduct and legal stance. The same Commission that monitored, documented, recognized, and swore to an affidavit confirming the ADC leadership is now acting in a way that contradicts its earlier position. We therefore call on the Commission to immediately reverse this position, resume the acceptance of all lawful correspondence from the ADC, and uphold its constitutional responsibility to ensure a level playing field for all political parties. We also call on Nigerians to be wary and remain vigilant about these dangerous machinations to subvert Nigeria’s democracy and impose a civilian dictatorship on the country.

This release by @inecnigeria followed a meeting involving senior leaders of the Commission, & @NGRPresident, @CourtOfAppealNG, @FederalHigh in the last 60 hours. I have it on the most impeccable authority that there is a pre-signed resignation letter by Chairman Amupitan. It was a pre-condition for his appointment. Ultimately, that had to be called in aid by those who persuaded him to issue this release. The threat of releasing it did the magic. It shd be evident to a professor of law & #SAN that is not the business of @inecnigeria to interpret the decision of the Court of Appeal. If they had any doubt, an #INEC governed by good faith shd have gone back to the Court of Appeal to secure an interpretation of the decision. But that is not where we are now. The country stares down a barrel & only those willing to enable that, make peace with it, or dare it will be able to sniff the stakes in #NigeriaDecides2027. As for Joash Amupitan....!!
PRESS RELEASE INEC’S POSITION ON THE COURT OF APPEAL’S DECISION IN APPEAL NO. CA/ABJ/145/2026: SENATOR DAVID MARK V HON. NAFIU BALA GOMBE & ORS The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has received: A letter from the law firm of Suleiman Usman SAN & Co. dated 16th March, 2026, titled: “RE: NOTICE OF PENDING PROCEEDINGS BEFORE THE FEDERAL HIGH COURT AND CAUTION AGAINST ANY PURPORTED RECOGNITION OF MR NAFIU BALA GOMBE AS ACTING NATIONAL CHAIRMAN OF THE AFRICAN DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS (ADC)” written on behalf of concerned stakeholders within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) A letter from the law firm of Summit Law Chambers also dated 16th March 2026 titled: “DEMAND FOR ENFORCEMENT OF THE ORDERS MADE BY THE COURT OF APPEAL, ABUJA DIVISION IN APPEAL NO: CA/ABJ/145/2026: SENATOR DAVID MARK V HON. NAFIU BALA GOMBE & 4 ORS” written on behalf of Hon. Nafiu Bala Gombe. While the letter from Suleiman Usman SAN & Co urged the Commission not to recognise Mr Nafiu Bala Gombe as acting National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) on account of the pending Suit No. FHC/ABJ/CS/1819/2025: Hon. Nafiu Bala Gombe v. ADC & 4 Ors. before the Federal High Court, Abuja, where the question of the leadership of the Party (ADC) is presently being contested, the letter from Summit Law Chambers, on the other hand, attached the certified True Copy of the Judgment of the Court of Appeal in Suit No. CA/ABJ/145/2026: Senator David Mark v Hon. Nafiu Bala Gombe & Ors and requested the Commission to enforce the judgement of the Court of Appeal, including: Ceasing recognition of Senator David Mark and Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola as National Chairman and National Secretary respectively of ADC; Removing their names from the Commission’s portal; and Refraining from dealing with or recognising any actions taken by them in respect of the party in line with the preservation orders made by the Court of Appeal. Subsequently, by another letter on the same subject matter dated 27th March, 2026, Summit Law Chambers alleged that the Commission had acted in disobedience of the Court of Appeal’s Orders by: i. Inviting Senator David Mark’s group to a political parties’ meeting held on Tuesday, 24th March, 2026; and ii. Monitoring a purported National Executive Committee meeting of that group. The solicitors (Summit Law Chambers) further drew the attention of the Commission to the Motion Ex-Parte and Motion on Notice filed by their client on 15th December, 2025, seeking to prevent the 1st Defendant (ADC) from holding any convention, congress, conference, or meeting and to stop INEC from attending, monitoring, observing or recognising any activities of the ADC. They accordingly requested INEC to invalidate the NEC meeting held by Senator David Mark's group on 25th March, 2026, remove the name of Senator David Mark's group from the INEC portal, stop recognising or acknowledging correspondence from them until the determination of the pending suit before the Federal High Court, Abuja and allow Hon. Nafiu Bala Gombe to take over the affairs of ADC pending the determination of the case, and that INEC should respect the orders of the Court of Appeal in Appeal No. CA/ABJ/145/2026. ORDERS OF THE COURT OF APPEAL In its judgement delivered on 12th March, 2026, the Court of Appeal dismissed the interlocutory appeal by Senator David Mark and made amongst others, the following Orders: “Finally, it is necessary to make preservatory orders to ensure that the subject matter of the dispute pending before the trial court is not prejudiced as Courts have inherent powers to control and regulate proceedings to ensure justice...

THE STATE OF RIVERS STATE: A CALL TO ACTION. A TEXT OF WORLD PRESS CONFERENCE ORGANIZED BY RIVERS FIRST MOVEMENT, RFM, TODAY MONDAY FEBRUARY 16, 2026 IN PORT HARCOURT, RIVERS STATE. Good morning ladies and gentlemen of the press and welcome to this press conference by the Rivers First Movement (RFM). The socioeconomic and political trajectory of Rivers State has over the years taken a disturbing turn which is a cause for great concern. At its root, has been the deviation from the collective to the individual; the substitution of the “we” for the “I”; the projection of the individual portrait over the larger picture, and the sacrificing of the progress of all Rivers people on the altar of personal political gains and selfish arrogation of the commonwealth of the state. At no point in our history as a people, since our forebears united across tribal and political lines to push for the creation of Rivers State, have we found ourselves in such a debilitating quagmire. Today, the labours of our heroes past, who fought for and advanced the common patrimony which we all share today have been trampled upon by the treasonable actions of a few self-serving individuals beguiled by fawning voices too timid and acquiescent to speak the truth to power. Unfortunately, since the inception of this administration, the rate of unemployment in the State has been on the increase indicating the administration’s inability to flatten this catastrophic curve. Today, Rivers State accounts for about 13.4% of the total ‘unemployment’ rate in Nigeria (NBS data). We must face the truth as Rivers people: The truth is that the wealth of Rivers State has been “cartelized” and commandeered by a few while the vast majority of Rivers people have been subjected and sentenced to penurious living. The truth is that our schools are too dilapidated to serve as places of learning because the future of Rivers Children have been set aside for the primitive accumulation of our collective wealth by a few individuals using politics as a veritable tool. The truth is that our hospitals are nothing to write home about; the truth is that our streets have become dunghills despite billions budgeted for waste disposal; the truth is that our people are no longer safe in the day or at night; the truth is that our young men and women have been canonized by a failed leadership into a life of thuggery, hooliganism and depravity for survival; the truth is that Rivers State is too big to have its entire existence revolve around the political interests and ambitions of Nyesom Wike and Siminalayi Fubara who have made themselves the dramatis personae for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s sole benefit. The truth is that the crux of their daylight squabbles and nocturnal reconciliations has never been about the interest of Rivers people, this is justified by the Governor’s recent unwarranted dissolution of the State Executive Council so as to keep the details of the agreement with his “Oga” hidden from the people of Rivers State. The truth is that this house of ours has fallen; and not only has it fallen by the conspicuous actions and failures of leadership over these years, but that it has fallen also because of the acquiescence of the masses of Rivers State in the face of the deliberate sabotage of our collective future by the leadership of this state. The truth is that the people responsible for the fall of Rivers State believe that they are too wealthy and too powerful and that there is nothing Rivers people can do but we say enough is enough and something must and will be done to salvage Rivers State from the vultures in our midst who have turned our land and people desolate so they can feast on our flesh to their fill. 1/2
