As we progress towards our Flight Ready Engine (FRE) & HOPE Vehicle development program, we have successfully executed the BSE-II engine hot fire test campaign. This phase focused on validating key reusability technologies - including injection, throttling, and ignition operating at ~12 bar chamber pressure and temperatures exceeding 2200°C. Building on our BSE-I campaign, where we demonstrated India’s first Pintle Injection mechanism, BSE-II takes us a step further with stable combustion under blow-down feed conditions, refined impingement mixing architecture, and expected plume behavior, including Mach diamond formation during firing. The entire testing stack - engine, test bench, control systems, test instrumentation and the DAQ system — has been fully designed and developed in-house by Team Abyom SpaceTech & Defence. This campaign successfully validated combustion stability, chamber pressure targets, and overall integrated system performance. Each step like this strengthens not just our propulsion systems, but also the ecosystem required to build reliable, reusable launch capabilities - contributing to India’s growing strength in Space and Defence. We are excited to announce that @AbyomSpaceTech & Defence has officially opened its Commercial Space Infrastructure Test Facility, marking a major step forward in India’s private space ecosystem. Our first external commercial test campaign has been successfully completed in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay @iitbombay Rocket Team, demonstrating our transition from internal R&D to full-scale commercial propulsion testing operations. The IIT-B Rocket Team partnered with Abyom to validate an M-class #Solid rocket motor. Over two months of preparation, our Abyom’s propulsion, structures, and control-system engineers worked closely with the team to align the motor configuration with the CTF’s operational and safety protocols. The test stand, flame deflector, and sensor interfaces were redesigned to support solid propulsion campaigns, ensuring full compliance with industrial test standards. During the tests, Our in-house #proprietary Engine Control System (ECS) and DAQ modules captured high-fidelity thrust and chamber-pressure data in real time — ensuring repeatability, accuracy, and valuable insight for future propulsion programs, including our next phase of fully #Cryogenic #Reusable rocket engine tests. Our facility is designed with scalability in mind — supporting everything from student-built propulsion systems to high-thrust industrial demonstrators. This collaboration reflects Abyom’s mission to connect academia, industry, and new-space innovators, strengthening India’s growing commercial space landscape and enabling accessible, world-class testing infrastructure.
