A UAM expert appeared on Sampro TV and said that, due to degradation issues caused by high power output with current battery technology, UAMs are, at this stage, only capable of demonstrations and not ready for commercialization. To get to the point, in an area with no definitive answers, it seems we shouldn’t speak with unwarranted certainty… After hearing yesterday’s story, I thought the expert’s claims were points that Joby could sufficiently overcome. In an industry that is pioneering a completely new path, accumulated data is critical. Whoever holds the most data will likely determine the leader of that industry. If so, the answer seems already clear. However, reaching the stage where a new industry is created and matures is an incredibly difficult task, with countless obstacles to overcome… While having a lot of data may guarantee a frontrunner in the industry, having a lot of data doesn’t guarantee success in that industry, and this is something we should always keep in mind. Personally, I believe that in this regard, it ultimately comes down to a matter of faith. And if so, from an investor’s perspective, the first element to believe in and monitor would likely be the competence of the leader above all else… That’s my personal opinion.
