In 1974, Vinita arrived in the U.S. with an engineering degree from Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee, one suitcase, and a vision that was far too big for the boxes people tried to put her in. By 1985, she wasn't just working in the Valley—she was disrupting it.
She founded Digital Link, ground it out for nine years through market shifts and skeptics, and eventually made history as the first woman of Indian origin to take a company public in the U.S. 🇮🇳🇺🇸
But here is the “spunky” part: Vinita doesn’t just build companies; she conquers disciplines.
The Engineer: Held patents for solid-state relays and square root circuits.
The CEO: Steered an Inc. 500 company for nearly 20 years.
The Competitor: Traded the boardroom for the card room to become a 3-time U.S. National Bridge Champion. ♠️
The Author: At 75, she’s proving that “retirement” is just a word for people without a next chapter.
Today, Vinita serves on the board of TiE Silicon Valley, Sutter Health - Palo Alto Medical Foundation, MSRI / Simons Laufer Mathematical Sciences Institute (SLMath), Asia Society, and Indian School of Business Hyderabad.
Her new memoir, The Woman In Deed, isn’t just a business book—it’s a masterclass in resilience, identity, and the art of reinvention.
It’s about being the only woman in the room and making sure they never forget you were there.
Vinita is a reminder that you don’t just find your path—you pave it, patent it, and then win a national championship on it “just for fun.”
Grab her book, The Woman In Deed, and get ready to be inspired to start your own “next big thing.” 📖✨
