The Department of School Education & Literacy (DoSEL), Ministry of Education, Government of India, yesterday flagged off a group of students participating in the Sakura Science Programme 2026 at a ceremony held at NCERT, New Delhi. From 24–30 May 2026, 56 students and 4 supervisors from India will visit Japan under the programme alongside participants from Ghana, Nigeria, and South Africa. The participating students, including 32 girls and 24 boys from Government schools across 15 States and Union Territories, are beneficiaries of the National Means cum Merit Scholarship (NMMS) Scheme. The programme aims to promote scientific exposure, cross-cultural learning, and global academic engagement among young students.
