If you paid your Transy Student Activity Fee, you were lucky to see Sam & Dave for free! Not a student then the Sam & Dave Revue would cost you $3. Still lucky!
May 9th, 1968 at 5:30 P.M. two acts opened the for Sam &
Dave. One opening act may have been Joe Wells and the Soulmen from Louisville. Soon after, Sam & Dave along w the Memphis Horns took the stage. Sam & Dave put on a hell of a performance that night ending with "Hold On, I'm Coming."
This account was all based on extensive research this morning. I wasn't there but would have loved to been. However, I did know one person who was in attendance that night. I interviewed him today. He would drive to Bowling Green in the 60s to get these phenomenal records produced in Memphis on the Stax label. I ended up with the records many years later.
The person in the crowd that night at Transy to see Sam & Dave was my dad.
