#Forces, for the win! 💪 It only took 30 yrs of advancement for "mechano-immunology" to emerge as a new mechanism in X-linked Hyper-IgM pathology! Could these forces also drive #lymphoma & #cancer pathogenesis? Up next w/ @Chengzhulab & @NCIPhySci! #ScienceTakesTime #mechanotime

Pleased to share our new work @ScienceAdvances, led by @chengzhulab, revealing how forces regulate B cell & T cell synapse interactions. Our findings shed light on mechanistic underpinnings underlying the pathology of #immunodeficiencies, X-HIgM syndrome. science.org/doi/10.1126/scia…

Data from the UK and Canada suggests waiting longer between Covid vax doses (2-4 months instead of 3-4 weeks) produces: 1. More robust antibody response 2. Less breakthrough infection 3. Less symptomatic illness #WAIT #ScienceTakesTime @LiamSchubel news.yahoo.com/waited-longer…

Well, I just sent a manuscript to co-authors 7 years after the data were collected! How many of you have projects like this? #NeverTooLate #ScienceTakesTime

Great news if true. Reminder: numbers will look different in a large population. It will take time to understand how long the antibodies will be protective. Also, short term safety data doesn't tell us long term safety data. #sciencetakestime #scienceismessy #COVID19
Pfizer vaccine 90% effective. Fantastic news. (Crucial) Safety readout in a few weeks. Wow wow wow. Just interim data but better for it to read out like this than the other way.

Lengthy thread, but a good example showing that a critical examination of the stats of any paper is worth your time as a reader. The statistical analysis portion of any paper is the most important (and my favorite 🤠) #goodscienceishard #datascience #sciencetakestime
Prize for the first person to spot what went wrong here. (First author is an old friend so I am sure she won't mind me pointing it out. Great study! All publicity is good publicity Valentina!)

I can appreciate the desire for simple answers... unfortunately this is rarely the case, especially as the problem gets larger. Right now this cartoon feels painfully accurate #MedTwitter #ScienceTakesTime

This is a longer read than probably many people feel like reading, but it is so worth it! And in the words of this great article, "we crave simple narratives, but the pandemic offers none." #coronavirus #sciencetakestime theatlantic.com/health/archi…

So proud to have this #PhD paper out! Thanks @jbmbari for inviting me on this research cruise, almost 5 years ago #sciencetakestime The jist of the research: deep sea fishes reveal their environmental preferences & vulnerability to climate change. Happy to share the paper
How can scientists predict what might happen to fish communities as the climate changes? Research led by Scripps scientist @Natalya_Gallo & @MBARI_News uses the natural geography in the Gulf of California as a proxy! 🐟 scripps.ucsd.edu/news/deep-s…

The feeling of discovery! We are less than 2 weeks away from digging up our pumpkin compost to see what trash decomposed and what still remains. Today we were captivated by the golden star shaped flowers we learned about in the fall. #theendisnear #iteachfirst #sciencetakestime
