District Expos are the first compulsory stage in the Eskom Expo journey and an important stepping stone towards Regional Science Fairs and international opportunities.
Learners receive one-on-one guidance from judges, mentors, teachers, Provincial Coordinators and Regional Science Fair Directors who help identify gaps in research, methodology and presentation skills.
Tip for learners: Handwritten notes and journals are accepted, so don’t wait until your project is perfect before participating.

South African learners achieved outstanding success at the 1923 International Mathematics, Science and Engineering Fair in Izmir, Türkiye, winning multiple top honours. Representing the country, three students earned gold and silver medals across engineering, biology and mathematics categories, showcasing exceptional talent and innovation. Their achievements were supported by Eskom through the Eskom Expo for Young Scientists programme, which continues to invest in youth development and international exposure. Eskom praised the learners for their high-quality research and encouraged broader participation in upcoming district expos nationwide.
