PRIDE OF ASSAM RIFLES: SRIKONA BATTALION EARNS PRESTIGIOUS HONOUR Srikona Battalion of #AssamRifles was awarded the Manipur Governor Unit Citation on 06 May 2026 in recognition of its exceptional courage, professionalism and dedication during Operation Hifazat and the recent unrest in Manipur. The battalion conducted precise operations across Jiribam, Tamenglong, Noney and Pherzawl, leading to the apprehension of insurgents and recovery of weapons, warlike stores, fake currency and contraband. PRIDE OF THE FORCE: TWO ASSAM RIFLES BATTALIONS AWARDED MANIPUR GOVERNOR UNIT CITATION 17 #AssamRifles and 40 #AssamRifles were awarded the Manipur Governor Unit Citation during an Investiture Ceremony held at Imphal on 06 May 2026 in recognition of their outstanding contribution to counter-insurgency operations and border management. The award was received by the Commanding Officers and Subedar Majors on behalf of their battalions. 17 Assam Rifles was recognised for successful operations against insurgent networks and its role in facilitating the Indo–Myanmar border fencing project. 40 Assam Rifles was commended for its sustained efforts in enhancing security and strengthening border management infrastructure.
