We listened to the community and here is the result: Got a CrossBeam that you would like to use for automated milling? The driver for lamella workflows in SerialFIB (github.com/sklumpe/SerialFIB…), developed in collaboration with @zeiss_micro , has now been tested on 2 Crossbeams

Multiple software (xT, MAPS, AutoTEM) has many functions beyond those needed for cryo-FIB, thus they can be put in background with a single minimalist frontend like SerialFIB. Manufacturers' innovations will be rewarded as easier & cheaper cryo-FIB will lead to more investments

Not many #PFIB #Arctis systems out there but maybe useful to some: #SerialFIB runs on Arctis now #TeamTomo!AutoLoader integration will change in the future and is a little hacked with help from my @thermosciEMSpec friends, thus not on GitHub, PM if needed. github.com/sklumpe/SerialFIB…

Already described in plastic-embedded samples before but really helps in native samples without staining in cryo-(P)FIB-SEM. SerialFIB scripts for 90 degree imaging available on github dev branch (github.com/sklumpe/SerialFIB…). YouTube tutorial to follow after vacation 😅

On a side note, obviously the moment we have this up and running we will be developing a driver for SerialFIB (GitHub.com/sklumpe/SerialFIB) that communicates with it, because #OpenSoftwareAcceleratesScience . Also some other machine drivers maybe in the making 😉#TeamTomo #PFIB #FIB

Some have already found it, but really glad we can share this manuscript! It’s been great fun to work with Sara Goetz & Herman Fung on developing a platform for automating and developing cryoFIB workflows. A small (non-perfect) #Chlamy milling example I had lying around attached.

Finally scripting on the FIB again this morning and did my first attempt at automated Waffle using SerialFIB (Perpendicular cut, nodge lamella) during the #MandM2021 sessions. Needs some optimization and real world trial in cryo, but I like my wanna-be copper lamellae 😁

Yes! AutoTEM waffle lamellae thinning is now routine at @NCITUinfo. We are looking into SerialFIB. It seems like it may be possible to automate all of waffle milling, from trench milling to notch milling to thinning, and all the rotations too. Do you agree?

First there was SerialEM, now there is #SerialFIB!! Fantastic work by @svenklumpe et al. and a great tweetorial too! Check out that Chlamy cryo-FIB/SEM volume imaging and that stunning Drosophila🪰 lift-out! This is a very important #OpenSource solution for automated FIB milling.
