"MS/Ph.D. Positions Available in Mechanical Engineering
Department of Mechanical Engineering – Clemson University
Two fully funded MS/Ph.D. positions are available within the Mechanical Engineering Department at Clemson University. The research focus lies in finite element modeling, multiscale modeling, signal processing, statistical/data-driven analysis for large-scale and high-dimensional datasets in energy applications.
Desired Expertise
Students with strong foundations in one or several of the following areas are encouraged to apply:
· Data Science and Analytics: Data processing, feature engineering, exploratory data analysis, high-dimensional data modeling
· Physics domain modeling: finite element analysis, multibody dynamics, thermal mechanics
· Programming and Tools: Python, MATLAB, COMSOL, SIMPACK, ANSYS, ABQAUS
· Knowledge in: rotating machinery, fracture mechanics, metallurgy, tribology
Research and Funding Opportunities:
Selected candidates will contribute to projects with potential collaborations across National Laboratories and industry partners. The research will involve interdisciplinary teamwork combining data processing, machine learning, and physical-domain modeling to solve real-world problems in industrial applications.
