My name is Michael Hayes, and this little boy in my arms is my son, Ethan. Today Ethan turns 5 years old. 🎂
It’s just been the two of us ever since his mom left when he was still a baby. I work long days on a small farm outside town, and every night I come home tired, dusty, and wondering if I’m doing enough for him. But then Ethan smiles at me, wraps his tiny arms around my neck, and somehow everything feels okay again.
This morning, Ethan woke up so excited for his birthday. He put on his favorite striped shirt and asked me if people would remember his special day. I told him I hoped they would.
We don’t have much money for a big party or fancy gifts. I used the last of my savings to buy him a small cake and his favorite chocolate milk. We stood together in the field where I work every day and took this photo while the sun was going down.
Hours have passed, and sadly, no birthday wishes have come for Ethan yet. As a father, that hurts more than I can explain. Every child deserves to feel seen, celebrated, and loved on their birthday.
So tonight, I’m asking one small thing from the world:
Could you please wish Ethan a happy birthday? ❤️
Your words may seem small to you, but to a little boy waiting for someone to remember him, they could mean everything.
