From the sacred days of Navratris and the joyous celebrations of Eid, to the vibrant New Year festivals across India and the globe - it is a season that reminds us of our shared humanity. 🌍
In this spirit of collective strength and new beginnings, I am humbled to share a project that has been close to my heart for a very long time. ✍️📖
I am officially beginning the journey of writing my memoir: a story that explores the most profound human paradox.
It is a story of Love and Hope - two forces that often appear to be the most fragile, yet in our hardest moments, prove to be the most powerful strengths we possess. 🕊️
While this began as a personal journey through a cancer diagnosis of my loving wife Kusum, it is a story for anyone, anywhere, facing their own 'impossible' mountain. This book is:
❤️ A Universal Love Story that transcends the physical.
🤝 A Compassionate Guide for anyone navigating caregiving, loss, or a life-altered state.
⚖️ A call for Systemic Change in healthcare, exploring how we fight for a better world while finding the grace to accept life’s hardest 'no.'
To ensure this mission continues to serve others, all royalties from this book will be dedicated to supporting cancer patients and advocacy work through our foundation. 🎗️
Just as these global festivals celebrate the triumph of light and the power of the spirit, this book is about our collective journey to 'Rise to Survive.'
Wishing you a season of peace, strength, and boundless hope. 🙏

Today would have been Kusum's birthday.
I marked the day with a run at iconic India Gate to raise awareness for Lung Cancer & Research - and later spent time at an orphanage for children with physical and mental disabilities.
A birthday remembered not through sadness, but through purpose.
Cancer took away years we hoped to share.
It did not take away her impact.
Happy Birthday, Kusum 💛🎂🎗️

Writing a memoir is exhausting.
Not because of the words.
Because of the memories.
Every chapter means revisiting moments of hope, fear, love, loss, and everything in between.
But if our journey can help even one patient or caregiver feel less alone, it's worth every page 💛

I think the health insurance industry in India is in free fall. With very low penetration anyway, these experiences leave people with no trust. When agents earn their livelihood by denying claims, there can be no redemption.
IRDAI and GIC need to wake up.
This organisation mis-represents a number of leading cancer centres including @TataMemorial, @UTMDAnderson@cityofhope. With very little evidence to support their claims. I request them to send data on randomized trials to justify what they say.

A patient needs a life-saving medicine.
The licence to import it in India for personal use is FREE.
Yet many families end up paying agents and losing valuable time to get medicines even during widely used patient assitance program, simply because they don't know the process.
To help patients and caregivers, I created a free step-by-step tutorial explaining how to obtain the import licence yourself.
Considering the number of queries I continue to receive, this remains a challenge for many patients and families. Unfortunately, some are still being charged unnecessary fees for a process that is free.
Hence, sharing this resource again.

⚠️ Note: The tutorial reflects the process currently followed to obtain an import licence for personal use. As with any regulatory process, requirements may evolve over time, so please verify the latest guidance from the relevant authorities when applying.

Thats amazing - Congratulations @Amolpatel_dr , and thank you for bringing up such important topic at @ASCO - which could save lung cancer patients of LMICs from one of the worst toxicity of cancer treatment i.e., 'Financial Toxicity'
More than 400 attendees at ASCO education session in Lung cancer lead by @JordiRemon where we discussed “Less is More”. Thank you @asco for giving this opportunity to present on “Low dose Immunotherapy”. Awesome global representation. Access to novel therapies is human right!
Honoured to share that I've been selected as an @IASLC STARS Scholar 2026 — 1 of only 9 international patient advocates chosen globally for this highly competitive programme.
STARS = Supportive Training for Advocates on Research & Science. The Scholar tier is its most advanced level.
As a Stage IV lung cancer patient & Executive Director of @ALKPositiveIndia, India's first ALK lung cancer advocacy org — this recognition lands deeply.
I'll attend the World Conference on Lung Cancer (#WCLC26) in Seoul this September as a STARS Scholar — bringing India's patient voice into global lung cancer research.
India has been underrepresented in this conversation for too long.
For every lung cancer patient in India — this one's for you. 🇮🇳

Biomarker-Based Eligibility for Lung Cancer Screening - A proteomic biomarker-based risk model can improve short-term lung cancer risk assessment with the potential to identify individuals who would benefit from low-dose computed tomography screening. jamanetwork.com/journals/jam…
Clinical Trials are Not only about Science.
For many families, they are also about Hope.
Years ago, on International Clinical Trials Day, my late wife Kusum’s journey with Stage 4 ALK ve Lung Cancer (never smoker) and her experience as she was participating in her 1st clinical trial at that time - was shared on one of India leading news channels.
Years later, message remains still relevant:
- Research truly Saves Lives....But at same time, Awareness, Access, and Trust determine who benefits from this Research.
- Access matters
- Patient voices matter.
On International Clinical Trials Day, today, perhaps we need to continue asking:
How do we ensure more patients in India and LMICs (Low-Middle Income Countries) understand, and have access to research?

Happy mother's day to you and all parents like you. You don't need a uterus to be a mother, just a mother's heart. Many a times my husband is more of a mother to our daughter than I am.
