Is anyone else frustrated by the glacial pace of academic publishing? 😩 6 months just for review? This system is holding back critical research. We need innovative solutions, and it starts with us. Reviewers: choose wisely, and commit to a 6-week turnaround! #SlowScience
Wolno, dużo i interdyscyplinarnie. I trochę więcej zagranico, ale znów bez przesady.
🔜 Mark your calendar for the next webinar in the Around the World series! This time, @mcaa_policy_wg and @MCAA_CommWG invite you to explore #SlowScience and its impact on science policy and research careers.

Spolier: no siempre funciona 🙃

in 2024 i submitted to ICML(4), RLC(2), & NeurIPS(1) and had 100% acceptance rate.
what's my secret?
writing good papers, ofc
but equally important is being selective and only send papers that you would be surprised if they *didn't* get accepted.

It's only 12 patients, but #1024 "Efficacy of elranatamabin combination with carfilzomib and dexamethasone in the phase 1b MagnetisMM-20 trial in relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma (RRMM)" had a 100% response rate. #SlowScience#ASH2024@Taxkourel
I’m a strong proponent of #slowscience, but when we get an R&R we drop everything and get to it. It’ll be nice to be able to schedule resubmissions so that it doesn’t seem like a speed-accuracy trade off
@AcademicChatter
Aucun sens...

Enduring #slowscience. It is the only way. As @SjorsScheres says, we need to be responsible & strict with research but it cannot be rushed. This week was proof of amazing discoveries standing on the shoulders of curiosity-driven previous science.
Why 12 years? Well, because good science needs #SlowScience, and also because our first shot was to replicate mu-suppression in autism, which led to a massive debunk of the EEG results initially used to support the “broken mirror” hypothesis of autism... extrospection.eu/wp-content/…
I actually block of my mornings every weekday to have time for reading papers, writing, thinking, etc. That time in the morning is when I am most fresh and have have purged the mental programs from the last day. #slowscience#makespacefordeepthought#emailisthedeathofcreativity
I sooo much agree with this. Academic jobs require juggling too many balls with barely any support (grant writing, teaching, managing a research group, supervising students and … research). Take two hrs everyday before you look at email and social media.

This post and article have been widely shared, showing a common agreement in science on the need for more thinking time. How do we achieve it?
Is it time to embrace #SlowScience?
How? 💡
The value of ‘wasting time’ on deep thinking is often overlooked in a scientific ecosystem increasingly tainted by Wall Street’s productivity mindset.
