Recommended by a close relative to work as an MR at his company since parents won't be able to afford college, how they'd pay for their kid to study and do research and I should drop the idea. Did it out of spite, fell in love with spectrocopy. Guess who's doing a PhD in it now!

I once did some spectrocopy for a guy who was researching something in fruit fly eyes. To get them he'd flash freeze flies in LN2, sift out the heads (which apparently fall off) and then cut out the eyes with scalpels.
Every single measurement required hundreds of eyes.

Elegant work by @cgbischak. I am glad to read that his team's work based on PL spectrocopy and Priscilla Cavassin's paper based on Vis-NIR absorbance spectrscopy converge towards the same conclusion that "ordered regions are doping before amorphous regions."

Here's an fpga. Drifts by up to a few tens of Hz over a min, but not much more than that. You probably don't care unless you're doing spectrocopy on a good resonator. Rock-solid when clocked.
