You may rightly say that Lange sucks and you’d rather have RDZ squadbuilding than him and I can’t argue. But this team needs a PLAN for the team/playstyle we’re going to be for years. And until then, we’re always going to field a piecemeal team requested by like 5 different mgrs.

Selling bentancour and Sarr im all on board. Loaning out grey and bergvall would be disaster when it comes to squadbuilding. Right now only Austin is the only club HG player. Grey and Bergvall need one more year at the club if they should become Club HG.

tuchel's squadbuilding was very underrated this england team will do well

This gives me flashbacks to the Mount/Amrabat and Ugarte windows where in every case, there were more viable/sensible quality options on the market and every time the club just kept landing on the objectively worse options squadbuilding-wise

🔴 Manchester United's Goalkeeper Search Reveals a Refreshing Change in Recruitment Thinking Reports suggest Manchester United are considering Leeds United goalkeeper Karl Darlow and Wolves' Sam Johnstone as they search for an experienced backup goalkeeper this summer. At first glance, these aren't the names supporters usually get excited about. There are no blockbuster transfer fees. No social media frenzy. No headline-grabbing announcement. And that's exactly why I find this story interesting. For years, Manchester United were often associated with big-name signings and expensive solutions. This potential move suggests something different. It suggests the club is focusing on squad building rather than headline building. Every successful organisation understands a simple truth: Not every role requires a superstar. Sometimes you need experience. Reliability. Professionalism. Depth. Football is no different. The best squads aren't built with 25 star players. They're built with the right mix of stars, emerging talent, leaders, and dependable professionals. That's why backup goalkeepers are often among the most underrated members of a squad. They rarely play. They receive little attention. Yet when called upon, they must perform immediately. No excuses. No adjustment period. No margin for error. That's a unique role. And it requires a unique profile. Karl Darlow and Sam Johnstone both fit that description. ✅ Premier League experience ✅ Professional mentality ✅ Comfortable as part of a squad ✅ Able to step in when needed ✅ Lower financial risk What's particularly encouraging is that United appear willing to look beyond glamour. The smartest recruitment decisions aren't always the most exciting. They're often the most practical. In business, organisations frequently fail because they overinvest in visible positions while neglecting critical support roles. Championship-winning teams avoid that mistake. They understand that depth creates resilience. And resilience wins over the course of a long season. The reality is that Manchester United's success next season won't be determined by who the backup goalkeeper is. But successful seasons are often shaped by the strength of the entire squad. That's where smart organisations gain an advantage. Not through one spectacular decision. But through dozens of sensible ones. What do you think? Would Karl Darlow or Sam Johnstone be a smart addition as Manchester United's backup goalkeeper, or should the club look elsewhere? #ManchesterUnited #MUFC #Leadership #Recruitment #FootballBusiness #SquadBuilding #PremierLeague #Strategy #TeamBuilding #SportsBusiness

You clearly don't understand the basics of squadbuilding. Just like our SDs. I notice you have provided precisely zero solutions yourself! It's very easy to criticise whilst adding absolutely nothing.

Mkhitaryan: € 2M net i 26/27. De Vrij: € 1,9M net i 26/27. Det blir nogle billige veteraner hvis de bider til bolle. Inter sparer € 5,9M i lønbudgettet. Smid Darmian, der var overflødig, oveni = € 4,6M og det betaler i praksis for en topspiller. Squadbuilding.

In hindsight Todd's signings didn't work but there was logic behind them. Since the SDs arrived there has been absolutely no strategy behind actual squadbuilding. Simply a series of one-off signings like a kid in a sweet shop to satisfy individual preferences. Shameful.

Because we refused to sign anyone over 25 and sold all of our experience which left us with no leaders! Awful squadbuilding. Totally imbalanced.

Lots of discourse around Chelsea needing sales. From a pure squadbuilding perspective I'd go with: Must Gos: Jorg/Sanchez, Gusto, Disasi, Tosin, Gusto, Garnacho, Delap, Guiu Should Gos: Badiashile, Fofana Could be replaced: Gittens, Chalobah, Cucu, Fernandez, Neto, Lavia, Santos

@mohammedali_93 This would be interesting. Marseille should do this and also bring Eric Roy as well. Less spending big money on flashy bad boys and more shrewd and precise squadbuilding and puzzlemaking. Make OM achieve above their means and not slightly underperform as before.
Après une décennie de réussites sportives à Brest, de la Ligue 2 à la Ligue des champions, Grégory Lorenzi est sur le marché. Malgré un accord verbal avec Nice en cas de maintien, il pourrait être dérouté en direction de... Marseille. ➡️ l.lequipe.fr/O6i

The outcome was obvious. Horrible failure, similar to Milan. Then Klopp comes and gets rid of the transfer committee entirely and then it’s just him and two other guys running the show. All of a sudden Liverpool is doing competent squadbuilding….

I'd keep Lange but demote him to head of youth recruitment, give him a 30m budget every year to get the Bergvalls, Kinskys etc. Incredible talent ID but clearly, a lack of understanding of squadbuilding at the elite level

…but then balance that with these ”high value market acquisitions” that are solely brought in to be offloaded with big profit. Milan has attempted to do this exact thing under Cardinale but failed with the functional squadbuilding.
