🔴 The Repressive Colonial System Once Again Initiates Abductions in Piranshahr
Saturday, April 6 (April 2026)
Within the continuation of policies of oppression and political extermination carried out with the aim of intimidating Kurdish society, the regime’s security forces abducted a Kurdish citizen named Wahid Birûmend from his home in Piranshahr.
This act is part of a chain of arbitrary arrests that are systematically carried out against the will and identity of the Kurdish people.
The occupying forces raided his house, and without presenting any legal document, forcibly abducted him and took him to an unknown location. Wahid Birûmend is married and a father of two children.
This detention is not merely an ordinary incident; rather, it is a sign of the central authority’s efforts to preserve colonial domination over Kurdistan through imprisonment, torture, and silencing. The disappearance of citizens is a primary tool of repressive systems to destroy the social and familial ties of oppressed people.
So far, no clear information has been released about his fate or the reason for his abduction, which in itself constitutes one of the most evident violations of human rights and human identity.

Ev girtin ne tenê rûdaneke asayî ye; belkî nîşaneya hewildanên desthilatdariya navendî ye ku dixwaze mêtingeriyê (colonialism) li ser Kurdistanê bi rêya zindan, êşkence û bêdengkirinê biparêze. Bêserûşûnkirina welatiyan, amûreke serekî ya sîstemên dagirker e da ku têkiliyên civakî û malbatî yên gelê bindest hilweşînin.
Heta niha tu agahî li ser çarenûs û sedema revandina vî welatî nehatine eşkere kirin, ku ev bixwe binpêkirina herî eşkere ya mafên mirovan û nasnameya mirovî ye.

While we welcome the recent release of political prisoners in Venezuela, this is not sufficient. Hundreds of individuals remain deprived of their liberty for political reasons, and their expedited release is both a humanitarian imperative and a necessary step toward political stability and democracy.
Today at the Permanent Council, I reaffirmed the OAS’s deep concern regarding the human rights situation in Venezuela. In the Americas—our region of peace and democratic values—there can be no justification for imprisoning individuals simply for thinking differently. Repression of any kind must be rejected unequivocally. I thank the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights @CIDH, especially Rapporteurs Gloria Monique de Mees and Edgar Stuardo Ralón, for their continued work, and I reiterate my call for Venezuelan authorities to allow an in-country visit by the IACHR, in support of a Venezuelan-led transition, with hemispheric support, for the benefit of the Venezuelan people.
