Velocity-Based Training (VBT) in the high school setting:
Traditional training requires the coach to select a total volume and intensity associated with the desired adaption they’re looking to stimulate. The assumption is that the athlete is fully recovered, feeling great, well fed, well rested, giving 100% effort, and using an accurate training max.
VBT flips the programming model and programs the output. The load is adjusted to match the desired stimulus. We can manipulate how we get there using a variety of applications or methods. More to come on this later.
