椎名さんは、英語教育・バイリンガル育成事業「FAST ENGLISH」をはじめ、企業の海外進出支援、DX支援など、“人と人”“日本と世界”をつなぐ事業を幅広く展開されている起業家です。
しかし、実は椎名さん、最初から英語が得意だったわけではありません。
大学時代には英語のクラス分けで最下位クラス。英検3級にも2度不合格。20歳まで海外経験もなかったそうです。
そんな椎名さんが人生を変えるきっかけとなったのが、大学時代、日本のキャンパスを訪れたヒラリー・クリントン氏との“ブロークン英語”での会話でした。
「完璧じゃなくても、伝わる」
その原体験から猛勉強を重ね、さらに24歳で単身インドへ渡り、現地で会社を立ち上げ、日本人向けホテルやサウナまで開業するという、まさに“幕末の志士”のような行動力で道を切り拓いていきます。
