En 1989, Atari lanzó una pequeña máquina que parecía salida del futuro: el 𝐀𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐢 𝐏𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐟𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐨.
No era una consola, ni una simple agenda electrónica.
Era considerado uno de los primeros palmtop compatibles con IBM PC: un ordenador de bolsillo con DIP DOS 2.11, procesador Intel 80C88 a 4.9152 MHz, 128 KB de RAM y pantalla LCD monocromática de 40 columnas por 8 líneas.
Su tamaño era cercano al de una cinta VHS, funcionaba con tres baterías AA y traía aplicaciones integradas como editor de texto, agenda, calculadora y hoja de cálculo compatible con Lotus 1-2-3.
También tuvo su momento de gloria en Terminator 2, cuando John Connor lo usa para intervenir un cajero automático.
El 𝐀𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐢 𝐏𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐟𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐨 fue una visión temprana de algo que hoy damos por sentado: llevar una computadora real en el bolsillo.

Since RTX is tech coming from iray which was a rewrite of vfx image renderer bought by Nvidia named mental ray. It was used on terminator2, fight club, matrix or titanic (among hundreds of other show). Comparison can be made with AAA games and old gen vfx.
