At the UK–Rwanda Climate Partnership Conference Dr Jean Baptiste Ndahetuye Head of Research, Africa Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Cooling and Cold-Chain (ACES) brought a practical and important perspective to the conversation on green investment and climate innovation.
He pointed out a gap that many of us overlook in food systems the lack of connection.
From harvest to the consumer, the cold chain is often broken or incomplete. And because of that, we lose more than just food we lose quality, safety, and value.
He emphasized thatcold chain systems must be connected end-to-end.
When this happens:
•food quality improves
•safety is strengthened
•and real value is created across the entire chain
And when consumers trust the quality, they are willing to pay for it.
More importantly, he emphasized that cold chain should not be seen as an optional add-on, but as economic infrastructure just as important as roads or energy systems.
